    • The information on the TAs' office hours and the tutoring sessions have been updated.

    • Homework 1 (due 1/18/18) has been announced. See the Homework tab. 
    • There will be Quiz 1 during the Tues class (1/16/18) with Prof. Dongwook Lee. Quiz 1 will be based on HW1 problems.
  • Jan 15, 2018
    • TAs' office hours have been finalized.
    • Quiz 1 will take place tomorrow, Tue, 1/16/18 in class. No quiz during tomorrow's Tue lab sections.

    • Homework 2 (due 1/25/18) has been announced.
    • Quiz 2 will be given during the lab sections next week.

    • Quiz 1 solutions have been uploaded to the Class Material page. Login is required to download. Solutions to DRC Quiz 1 that had minor modifications to Quiz 1 can be easily figured out from studying the Quiz 1 solutions.
    • It was reported to me that Tue 3:30pm -- 4:30pm (Section 01C) was overly packed, which violates a fire code. If this continues, the right to stay in that section will first be given to those who officially enrolled in the section. To help the situation, please consider moving to other less populated sections -- please contact both TAs.
    • Quiz 2 (with TA Jayashree, Tue sections) solutions have been posted.
    • Homework 1 solutions have been posted.

    • Homework 2 solutions and Quiz 2 solutions (TA: Youngjun) have been posted.
  • Jan 31, 2018
    • Tue 3:30 pm section (Section 01C) was again overly packed. The room cannot hold any more than 44 students. If this continues, you will have to go back to your official section in order not to violate the campus fire code policy.
    • Homework 3 has been announced.
  • Feb 1, 2018
    • Homework 3 solutions for a set of selected problems have been posted.
    • Quiz 3 solutions (TA: Jayashree) have been posted.
  • Feb 4, 2018
    • Sample midterm exam problems have been posted. Students are strongly encouraged to study them for the upcoming midterm exam.
  • Feb 6, 2018
    • Quiz 3 solutions (TA: Youngjun) have been posted.
  • Feb 8, 2018
    • The midterm exam will cover up to Section 3.3.
    • Monday sections on Feb 12, 2018, will be led by TA Youngjun to have a midterm review for everyone. The location is at Social Science 2, Room 75, starting from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. No quiz in the midterm exam week.
    • There will be no lab sections on Tue, Feb 13, 2018.
  • Feb 13, 2018
    • Another option to calculate final grades (using 100% final exam only) has been newly available. With this alternative option, students' final grades will be computed in two different ways and the final grade will be the maximum of the two. See the updated Grading Policy for more details.
    • The next Monday (2/19) is a holiday. Due to this, all lab section schedules including quiz will be canceled next week for both Monday (2/19) and Tuesday (2/20).

    • The midterm exam solutions have been posted. You are STRONGLY encouraged to study them for the final exam.

    • The midterm scores have been posted on Canvas. Students can pick up their exams in the class on Tue, 2/27/18 or during office hours.
    • Midterm average: 81.96
    • Midterm median: 85
  • Mar 5, 2018
    • Solutions to Quiz 4 and Quiz 5 have been posted.
    • Review materials on linear algebra (7.1 and 7.3) have been uploaded to Class Materials. Study them to familiarize yourself with the basic concepts in linear algebra. In addition, please review 7.2 on the textbook. Later this week, we will begin 7.4, skipping the review sections 7.1 ~ 7.3.

    • The lecture notes on 7.4 and 7.5 have been posted.
    • Quiz 6 solutions (TA Jayashree) have been posted.
    • The last homework, HW9, has been finalized and posted. Note that this is not mandatory but optional for extra credits toward your total homework score. Since this is an extra credit homework, credits will be given only for correct problems, and there is no partial credit.

    • Sample problem sets 1, 2 and 3 have been uploaded. Students are very strongly encouraged to solve them at least 2 times.

    • There are typos in the sample final exam problems. In Prob. 5 of Winter 2017 Yellow and Blue exams, y_5 and y_6 need to be: 
      • y_5 = t*exp(t)*cos(2t) and y_6 = t*exp(t)*sin(2t)
